When I tried replacing my blade this afternoon I found that the star pattern on the blade adapter was chewed down to a circle. As soon as I loosened the bolt holding the blade, a ton of metal shavings fell out. I started researching online just for the blade adapter part, but, soon found a bunch of articles and videos about an ongoing problem with these Husqvarna star shaped blade adapters (Here is a link to a video of one guy who has had this happen 3 times already: https://youtu.be/i-xsHg9NDMU?list=FLXLduZlZkFz0A9NovtN5-PQ). Some people even have the blade complete shear through the holding bolt and fly off. I'm just wondering if a simple fix would be to replace the star shaped adapter with a 2 pinned adapter? Any suggestions, recommendations for known third party (or even Husqvarna) adapters that will work on my HU800AWD?? Thanks in advance!!!

I do not have an answer. I also have the same problem. Blade partially backed out. Took it to my garage, and when I started removing the blade, 5 pieces, which form the 5- point star, fell out like BB's. With my knowledge of metal, it appears the star formation at the factory is poorly made. I can see the formation of the star in the adapter. I believe Husqvarna needs to review the metallurgy on this part. If a better part is made, I would be interested in obtaining one. This is a very dangerous part to break.

Yes, I too have had issues with the Blade Adapter... The star Pins shear off too easily. I have changed at least 3 and this last time, my local dealer says I have to tighten the bolt to at least 100 ft lbs... I say the product has faulty engineering and should have a better adapter to handle the torque of a blade. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

bought the mower with the "star" style blade adapter 2 years ago ... each time I go to sharpen the blade I have to replace the blade adapter because the "star" drive has disintegrated.
What a scam ... I figured this for a quality mower but certainly has a piss poor design. Why sell the mower with a factory supplied blade equipped with both a "2 pin" and "star" drive then only supply a blade adapter with a "star" drive that is destined to crumble.
Really disappointed with the Husqvarna design team on this one.

I have bought last summer, (June 2015) AWD 190 cc with Honda engine, Husqvarna Lawn Mover 22". I did use the mover to cut the edges on the tree area. I do have a riding mover, but cannot access certain areas. This year I wanted to sharpen the blade then all the problems started. I realized that I do have a star shaped (5 point star) blade adapter and all the star pins sheared off. I called Husqvarna Customer Service they said the "blade" and "the Blade adapter" is maintenance items, and are not specifically covered under warranty. So I ordered the part on line and got one, put it on the machine and Cut the lawn, I realized that all the star pins were shear Off, after the first cut. I bought two more blade adapter, even after one cut all the star shaped pins were sheared off. It definitely a poor design on the "Star" and each use it is " disintegrated". Really disappointed with the Husqvarna Customer service. I would like to get it fixed, how can I fix this issue. Please forward me if you find any answer or ways to fix this problem. Any other Blade Adapter can be replaced to fit for this Model. I would like to file a formal complaint with the Husqvarna Customer Service Department, copy to Better Business Beauro, Customer Protection Agency etc. or file a Class Action Suit, to get a recall from Husqvarna.

2 year old mower, didnt hit anything hard, just grass, same adapter problem. This may have been a safety design to save the shaft when hitting something hard. Or design to put more money in Husqvarna's pocket. Im siding on the latter. I think I will choose a common blade (thinking 3 hole) drill and tap and be done with this crap.
