    Question:
    Safety issue for walk-behind mower?
I recently received the rear deflector (part no. 532 44 15-77) for my rear-drive walk behind mower, and find that it shoots the debris right at your legs... particularly when turning the mower.
The problem is: the deflector needs to be a foot longer, so it wraps more around to the side.
The debris stings my legs and fills up my shoes with grass clippings... and if it were to pick up a roofing or siding nail in the grass, I think could drive it right into my leg bone!
I've never seen a mower that has such a short chute, and blows the debris on your legs in recent years, due to safety issues.
    Very, poor... unsafe... design.
Maybe the answer it to report to Consumer Protection at the state and federal level?
Or... is there a safer replacement available?

Thank you for contacting the AnswerARMY.

It is upsetting that you have had this experince.

The primary design for this mower was to collect grass and recycle.

The grass discharge chute if installed correctly does meet all applicable safety guidelines.

We recommend that you mow in a clockwise rotation, this allows the grass to be discharged over the area the grass was previously cut and spreads the clippings outward. If you mow in a counter clockwise rotation this allows the grass clippings to discharged to the inside and then as you keep mowing you start loading the mower with pre cut grass as well as grass that needs to be cut.

    Hope this helps.
