    Question:
I have a model 445 chainsaw which is putting burrs on the drive portion of the chain. This binds on the bar and stalls the saw. Any suggestions?

First check your spur drive on the clutch drum for excessive wear.

Second is to keep your chain tight. This is where when you pull up on the chain in the middle of bar only 1/2 of a drive link is exposed. Remember cold chains do naturally length during operation and you will need to check and tighten during the saw use. Just remember to lessen the tension when you through with saw before you put it away as damage can occur as chain shrinks back as it cools off.

Also chains do lengthen from wear of the pivot points causing it to no longer ride in spur drive teeth causing the drive links to slip and become damaged. The only solution is to replace the chain once it reaches this point.

Finally make sure chain is being oiled as without oil you will have problems,
