    Question:
I have a Husqvarna FT900 tiller. The problem is I see there is a fluid leak on the transmission (i.e. oil/grease) under the transmission.

    My questions are:

1.) There is not much leakage, how much can leak before doing major damage to the transmission?
2.) I don't see a grease plug which would allow me to add grease. Is there a way to add grease myself and not have to go through the expense of taking it to a shop?

    Thank you

These transmissions are sealed units. The sealing is done by crimping the outside edge of the transmission case. This makes it impossible to service it. Now you might a hole in the side and add a grease zerk but are taking a change of introducing metal shavings into the unit.

Thank you for the reply.  I was thinking of drilling a hole and adding a grease plug.  If I don't add grease, the life of the transmission wil most likely be exponentially less than if metal shavings get in.
