We bought a Yta24v48 in 2016. We have replaced the front link 4 times now. It literally snaps in 2. Why?!?

Depends how you are bottoming out the mower. The deck can only go so high before damage occurs.
Second are replacing the link when the one from the 42" deck as the 48" deck uses a different one. So what part number are you installing? Also if this the correct part where is it breaking at?
In the 9 years I have working on mowers I have seen one broken link and that was because it fell off the operator ran over it. I have however seen many nearly worn in two ones.
