Question:
I have a Husvarna 128LD trimmer. The starter rope will not retract after pulling. When the screws are loosened on starter assembly, the rope retracts. When the screws are tightened on the starter assembly and then the rope is pulled ... it still will not retract. What procedure do you use to place the starter assembly back into its' proper position so it will retract correctly?

It is upsetting that you have experienced this failure.
There is no alignment procedure, I suspect something else has happened to cause this problem. To properly install the recoil as you make sure it is between the pawls and then tighten the screws. I would suggest that you take the unit to your local authorized Husqvarna service center for inspection to determine the reason for failure and appropriate repairs.
