    Question:
I have a Husqvarna 5524STE and after a couple of seasons of perfect performance, it developed a severe fuel leak to the point that I can't even idle without manually turning off the valve. The local service store wants $160 just to look at it... any recommendations?

    Thanks
    Frank

    Hi Frank,

Thank you for contacting Husqvarna. I'm sorry your having trouble with your snow thrower. I'm not sure where your leak has developed. There was a Briggs and Stratton Safety Recall on 2005 year models doing the same thing. We issued a service bulletin as well as Briggs regarding this issue. Now I'm not saying that's is what is wrong with your thrower but I would bring this to the dealers attention. • All OHV snow engines manufactured between date codes 000601xx and 070301xx and beginning with the following model numbers that are installed on snow throwers:

    12A1xx, 12A3xx, 12A4xx, 12C1xx, 12C3xx, 12C4xx, 12D1xx, 12D2xx,

    12D3xx, 12D4xx, 12E1xx, 12E3xx, 12E4xx, 12R1xx, 12R2xx, 15A1xx, 15B1xx

    20A1xx, 20A4xx, 20B4xx, 20C1xx, 20C4xx, 20D4xx, 20E1xx, 20E2xx, 20E3xx,

    20E4xx, 20F4xx, 20G4xx, 21A1xx, 21A4xx, 21B4xx, 21C1xx, 21C2xx, 21C3xx

If your model is included, it needs to have this repair and there should not be a charge for it. If your model is not included it may be some trash in the carburetor and has a stuck float. That would not be covered under any warranty as it is a fuel related issue introduced from outside elements.

Always try GOOGLE for your model or part # (drop the spaces and dashes) and you can find out a lot of information about your unit or distributors trying to sell you parts.

You can also try these websites: www.ordertree.com or www.jackssmallengines.com

Hope this helps. Thanks for using our products and have a great day.
