    Question:
Drive belt continually jumping off on LGT2554
    Details:

I've had this LGT2554 for almost (if not) 2 years. Fantastic mower.  Reverse speed leaves a little to be desired, but that's not my main problem.

Last summer, the drive belt jumped off twice.  Both times, I sent it to the dealer for service.  There was, perhaps, 4 hours between these services.  The first time the belt was replaced.

This spring, the drive belt has jumped off no less than 6 times.  4 times I have been able to put it back on myself.  1 time I had my fleet (Pepsi Warehouse) mechanic inspect it to see why it kept jumping off.  He couldnt replicate the problem.

I just dropped it off at the dealer for the 3rd time in 1 year due to the drive belt jumping off.

I seem to have narrowed down WHEN it is jumping off...but not WHY.  It seems to be jumping off when I come to a stop using the brake.  The dealer told me he recalled having this problem with another LGT2554.

Any advice or solutions I can take to the dealer?

From all the post I have read concerning the belt falling off it seems to me that we have a design flaw that Husqvarna will not recognize. I think they need to issue a recall on these factory defect models and do right by their customers. The local techs are of no use in a case like this.

My local dealer finally found out what the problem was and they performed a fix.  It had something to do with some bolts that fell out of the transmission causing it to bounce on the belt in turn knocking the belt off.

It appears that the bolts/transmission case were not manufactured to be put all the way through the transmission case, so over time, they backed out.  My local dealer drilled all the way through and nutted a longer bolt on the other end.  I mowed all summer with no problems.

My local dealer did each repair at no charge and was extremely apologetic and remorseful in regards to my defective tractor.

For Husqvarna's info...  my dealer is Woody's in Timberlake, NC.  First class operation and they took care of me each and every time my tractor broke.  Thanks to them, I will most def continue to purchase Husqvarna tractors.

keep your eyes on the rear diff mounting brackets as there known for breaking right off the frame

in fact one guy it happened to in his driveway which was a slight hill,, when they broke he had no control

of the mower and rolled right out into the street,, Husqvarna blamed it on abuse he ended up suing husqvarna

the next thing that will happen is broken welds on the deck brackets as they are poorley welded and Husqvarna knows it

also the front spindle welds break along with the cheap k46 tuff torque axles snap in this model

go to consumer reports ther is over 350 complaints about this issue alone

go ahead greg tell him there is no issue with you junk tractors

I don't know how you sleep at night lying through your teeth to customers who spent 3g plus

your just another cronie for Husqvarna also husky don't even make it ayp does

I have the same issue.  The frame at the u-bolts holding the differential in place broke and then there was no controlling the lawn tractor because the rear end was *** a little and would not respond to the controls.  Not very good and sturdy metal (too thin) for an expensive lawn tractor like this.  Mine is a LGT2554.  It broke with less than 300 hours on it. Husqvarna should at the very least offer people with this issue a 50% discount on another mower that has had this issue corrected.

I recently bought a new Husq 54" from Lowes, and it was just weeks later the tractor would not move.  I went through all the advice that was printed in the manual.  I called the warranty number and was given  hundred reasons why the would bot cover a repair on the transaxle ($1500).  Are you over 225 lbs, do you use on a rural place over 5 acres, if you tried to improve traction and many more reasons how we voided the warranty on the mower.  Now that Husq and my extended warranties were null and void, I called on line businesses to see how I could salvage my $5000.00 investment (I bought all the attachments).  At last I found a fellow named Roger who adervertised a t66 to replace the crap t46.  I've used my tractor for months now and nothing will stop the wheel when working on my property.  If my tractor will not pull something, it will dig in the ground, wheels turning!

save your investment and hove a t66 installed.  Your little tractor will act like a big tractor.

I have the same situation with my LGT2654! The lawnmower is exactly two years old this August. I started having problems with it in the summer of 2015, when the belt kept jumping off every time I cranked up the engine and engaged the blades. I can't tell you how many times I repaired/put it back on myself. Finally, in the spring of 2016 I took it to the Husqvarna authorized technician. They replaced the belt, adjusted the deck, fixed the sway bar. Now, several cuts later, August 2016, the belt jumped off again! My neighbor is very talented when it comes to repairs like this. After I put the belt back on twice this morning, he took it in his shop and worked on the mower for 4 hours. All seemed ok, I even was able to cut the yard for twenty minutes, until the belt slipped/jumped off again. What a joke of a product, I tell you. I thought it was a reputable brand, proud of its quality.

I am experiencing the same problem.  I bought my LGT2654 in the summer of 2014 and it ran very well.  As of this year I had a plethora of things happen.  I had to replace the front wheel bearings, the muffler and now the drive belt keeps falling off.  I bought a new belt and it worked for one cutting session (I Have 3 acres) and on the next one it fell off again, and again, and again!!  I am an amputee (right leg) and I can't be making these repairs all the time.  There should be no reason to make those types of repairs after only 2-3 summers of work anyway. I had to use my neighbors John Deere to cut my yard(very embarrassing). Is there a problem with that year of models all together?  By the looks of these similar posts, it seems as though it is.  Thank you.

The drive belt came off my five year old YTH24V42LS so I had it replaced. It kept coming off after moving in reverse. The problem turned out to be the bolts connecting the transaxle to the torque bar had sheared off. This allowed the transaxle to twist in reverse tipping the pulley forward which shortened the distance between the pulleys so the belt came off. I needed to take the transaxle off and remove the snapped off bolts with easy out extractors. The tractor now works like new.

I found the best way to get to the defective bolts was to support the tractor frame in front of the wheels and remove the wheels then remove the transaxle. Two bolts on each side hold the axle in place. The linkages from the brake pedal and the forward reverse pedal and one electrical connection at the transaxle need to be disconnected. The linkages are cotter pins and the electrical connection is a plug so the disconnect is not hard.

I considered removing two of the bolts that hold the transaxle together and drilling all the way through and using long bolts as suggested in another post. I choose not to as I thought the transaxle could leak if those bolts failed. Instead I stuck with the original design and removed the broken off bolts with an extractor then re-installed using 5/16"-18 3/4" screws as specified by the manufacturer. I plan to check the bolts occasionally to ensure they are tight and haven't failed again although I am confident they will last at least five years like the first ones

I took the tractor to a Husqvarna dealer twice before I fixed it myself. They were unable to identify the cause of the belt falling off. I am surprised that Husqvarna does not have a troubleshooting database for their dealers which would identify this problem as a cause for belts falling off as I am sure that eventually these bolts will fail on many tractors.

We purchased a 2654 just two months ago, the first time we mowed with it, the belt jumped off and the bolt was bent.  We contacted Lowes, first big mistake, only to be told it was user error and not under warranty.  So we took it to Oklahoma Outdoor Power Equipment, which is a Husqvarna dealer, they repaired it and replaced the bolts for a hefty price of 402.00 on top of course of the 2600.00 purchase price.  Today we mowed half of our yard and the belt jumped again.  I am beyond frustrated.  This is the second mower we have purchased.  We finally finished our yard with our 10 year old mower.  We need help getting this horrible issue resolved.  Any ideas will be appreciated.  We have over 3000.00 invested and have not been able to mow our 3/4 acre yard once with this mower.
