    Question:
Just purchased a HU775H/961450007 and it wouldn't drive the rear wheels - adjusted the drive cable and got it to move along flat ground, small inclines wouldn't drive, tightend drive cable more, still wouldn't start on a slight hill but would go if i pushed it, but that defeats the object of having a powered mower - it squeels like a stuck pig when it is trying to move will it ever move smoothly up an incline? or should i buy a differnt mower, my previous mowers have never had this problem on the same incline - i have read other similar complaints on the drive mechanism on this site - sounds like a problem, it's brand new so i will probably justt return it and get a different brand unless someone has a simple solution.

The mower is under warranty, I recommend taking it to a servicing dealer in your area. NOT A BOX STORE.

       Hi Peter,

Sorry your having trouble with your mower. On a new unit please refer back to where you purchased the mower and see if they can direct you to a service center that can evaluate this unusual problem. The HU775H units are extremely reliable and not prone to this type of damage.

We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused to you because of this. provided below is the dealer locater site.

I  purhased the HU775H from LOWE's June 8, 2012 and after using it twice and after adjusting the tension for the belt to maximum adjustment, the mower will only go in grass with some assistance by me pushing. Mine runs fast on level concrete but I can stop it with very little force.  There is no squealing or other noise when the mower is restrained from moving.  I am greatly disappointed.  I guess I will returned it to Lowe's for a refund unless someone can give me a definite fix.  I am guessing that the transmission is slipping and therefore defective and it appears to be chronic problem on this model and possibly others.  I left Troy-bilt because of inferior products and it appears that Husqvarna might be in the same category.  Any suggestions??

This certainly is not an unusual problem my mower must have been the next on the assembly line. I thought it was going to be what I needed for the grade on the back of my lawn, this is a poorly designed drive system on this mower it is either the pulley which could be slipping on the shaft at the gear box for the rear wheel drive or the gear box, mine is slipping after I installed a new belt and have turned the turn buckle out as for as it can go, and it is the same as Peter when you get to a grade it must be pushed. Unfortuate for me I purchased mine last year howvever and I also purchase the extended Lowes warranty, I am 68 yrs old and this thing is too m uch trouble, I will next buy Husqvarna again this Model HU 775 H is poor design drive as I see many returned at the Lowes I go to, and Lowes which ordinarlly sell great stuff they should ashamed to handle this equipment.

I am a disgruntled customer to say the least.

I too am unhappy with this mower, I've had it three weeks and the power drive cable broke. If I have to have it in for repair every three weeks I will not recommend this mower to anyone!

I am beginning to agree with you Stan, I bought this mower last April 2012 and had the drive pully and pin replaced because it just quit working in August and now the drive cable just broke as I was mowing and went to inguage the lever. I have never had problems like this on a mower I paid this much for. Have bought cheaper ones and mowed them into the ground with out any problems except old age. Now since it is out of warranty it is costing me over $40.00 and that is just for the part. Which, I ordered over a week ago and am still waiting for. The Dealer/service center told me that Husqvarna still hasn't shipped it yet. Terrible service here. Thinking of going back to Toro.

I think I am having a similar problem.  I bought my mower at lowes a little over a year ago.  I have a slight incline in my yard and I noticed that the mower hasn't really worked right from the beginning as far as the self-propelling goes.  I didn't buy a warranty.  Finally, the mower got so hard to pusch that I checked the throttle control and found that it had shredded.  I  bought a new throttle for $30 and when trying to install it, the drive handle parts went flying and now I don't know how to put it back together.  I haven't found a diagram and I've never done something like this before, so not too savvy.  Grrr.  I left Troybilt for Husqvarna too.

I suggest you get rid of it. I have had one for just over a year and found out why the drive so badly. The bearing on the right rear(one with the adjust handle) is seizing. What happens next is the drive shaft is going to break. Parts alone will cost you about 120.00 online. Pretty sad for a push mower that cost over 400.00.

drive asm averages 80.00/ kit.sel asm averages 40.00
