      Tina,

I am Not sure what model year of a Model 235 that you are looking for?

Here is a link to a Model 235, Date of Manufacture 2009: /images/ddoc/HUSI/HUSI2009_AAaa/HUSI2009_AAaa_47_.pdf

If you refer to reference drawing "H", that is the carburator, and reference drawing "L" is the fuel tank, and fuel line.

I hope this helps, If you have a different Model year, you can go to this link, and select one from the list: /images/us/support/download-manuals/?query=235&types=I&brands=

Please let me know if I can be of any further help!

      Tina,

The primer bulb drawing is reference drawing "N".

The individual drawings do not do a good job of showing how the fuel system all connects together, so If you need some help trying to figure that out, then please let me know and I will try to write something up in words, and with the pictures I know you will figure it out.

      Again hope this helps,

      Tina,

      Here is a write up:

First the theory of how the fuel system works, this will help you in understanding and verifying the fuel system connections:

Fuel is pulled up through a filter which is inside the fuel tank through a length of tubing which is connected directly to the carburator fuel “IN” connection. When the engine is running the fuel pump diaphragm inside the carburator will pull the fuel out of the tank. A primer bulb also referred to as a purge bulb is connected to the other side of the carburator. The purge bulb pulls fuel out of the carburator and returns the fuel to the tank. Note: when starting a chainsaw pushing the primer bulb several times insures fuel is going from the filter in the tank thru the fuel diaphragm pump inside the carburator, and then is returned back to the tank. Also there is a check valve located inside the primer bulb which will maintain fuel in the bulb, and inside the carburator so that the carburator does not drain out and run dry.

Connections on a Model 235. Referring to the Orientation of the IPL drawing, the flywheel  and primer bulb will be directly in front of you. With the carburator properly installed the “L & H” adjustment screw will also be facing you. Connect a short piece of tubing (maybe 1 ½ - 2” piece) from the primer bulb connection labeled “IN” (on some primer bulbs on the back side) or the short fitting on the back side of the primer bulb,  connect  the other end of that tubing to the carburator fitting  left of the “L & H” adjust ment screws. Next take a longer piece of tubing about (5 – 6” long) and go from the long fitting on the back of the primer bulb across and behind or to the left of the carburator, and into the opposite side and down into the hole of the tank next to the fuel vent  hole. Finally, connect the filter to another piece of tubing (maybe 6” length), and put the filter inside the tank and with a fish line or wire pull the tubing directly straight up through the hole located under the primer bulb, this gets connected to the only connection left on the opposite side of the carburator or the carburators fuel “IN” connection.

I hope this makes sense, also re-read how the system works, and trace the fuel connection path.

Oh, If there is a third hole in the crankcase this is for item (15 & 16) which is the fuel tank vent.

      PS. also see attachment.

Another picture with the short tubing on the carburator.

See attachment, and I hope this works for you.
