Question:
Gday, Purchased a DRT900E in May of 2012. The problem I have is that the tines are not spaced equally around the shaft and the whole machine lurches real bad when the set of three tine that are nearly in a row rotate through the soil. Are there different tines available for this unit which are equally spaced on the shaft?

Answer
I have the exact same issue. Why are most of the tines on one half of the shaft? Why has no one replied to the original post over a year ago??
The only reason I can think of for this ridiculous design is for ease of removing the tines out the side of the housing. Why didn't engineering design the tines into more of a spiral pattern so every 30 degrees of rotation a single tine would strike the ground? The way I received my unit there are almost 6 tines that hit the ground at once, and on the opposite side of the shaft there is almost 180 degrees of shaft with only 2 tines on it. Very odd.
I attempted to call customer support to inquire whether the tines on the other CRT900 would fit my machine. She said yes. Then I asked if I could get some. She put me on hold for a few minutes and came back and told me sure, for $160.
WHAT? that's a quarter of what I paid for the whole machine. I would buy a different competitor's machine before I spent that much on a single non-moving part.
I want someone in engineering to contact me with a solution to their terrible design of these tines. I really would love if Husqvarna would send me the replacement tines in exchange for pointing out a flaw that their engineering team should have figured out the first time they tested it.
Thanks,
Andy
