I recently purchased a new Husquavarna 22" AWD mower with the Honda 190cc engine. I have a large yard (1/2 acre) that takes between 1.5 and 2 hours to mow with my old push mower depending on how thick the grass is. Upon trying my new Husquavarna out for the first time I was pretty disappointed to find that the top speed is slower than I used to push my old mower! Is there anything that can be done to make the mower go faster? I was really looking forward to the time savings and it appears that it will be spending MORE time mowing with my fancy new mower!

You can adjust your drive cable to pull the transmission lever harder. There is an adjustment nut at the end of the cable going into the hand lever assembly. Take a wrench and move the nut outwards. This will do two things for you. First the bad thing is you will now have to squeeze the drive levers harder. The good outcome is your levers will be more effective pulling the cable and engaging the transmission. If your speed was too slow, this should bring your speed up to the maximum possible speed. Do not over adjust your cable trying to get warp speed, The cable could break or you could break something on either end of the cable. Try a little at a time. Once the max speed is reached stop adjusting. Good luck

Thanks for the tip. I did see the wrench logo near the adjuster for that cable but there was nothing in the owners manual for increasing the speed of the mower. I'll give it a try but I'm not to optimistic as I don't really feel like there is slack in the cable anyways so I don't really feel like I'm losing any speed to a loose cable and the resultant belt slippage.
