    Question:
A few weeks ago I purchased a HU775H and it comes with a high lift mulching blade. Honestly it should be called a clumping blade. As I mow I get huge clumps of grass left behind. I have never seen performance like this. My last 2 mowers (Toros) never did this.

When I look at the clippings I see very long clippings. With other mowers I would get very small clippings. At first I thought this was a problem with the blade not being sharp so I sharpened it. No change.

With the bagger I am even getting some clumping. Though not as bad as with out it.

Anyone know what the problem is?

I'm having the same problem. I tried a new mulching blade for the HU775L model, but this didn't help! Make sure you have the "claw" on the blade facing up towards the mower deck. My mower was serviced under warranty and the blade was incorrectly reinstalled and the belt was stretched due to the svc ctr installing belt around the belt guide. The manual indicates to replace the drive belt, but good luck trying to find a replacement part for the belt. The only # I was able to come up with was at Sears.com that cross referenced the belt #532421527 to their # 421527. I'm planning to try this belt and if problem still occurs, I'm returning the mower.

Sorry but the machine is not even 2 months old.  I am not replacing anything but the whole mower.  I do not care what the manual says.  Any mower that needs a belt replacement in order to work is crap.

I just bought a HU775BBC from Lowes and see the same issue with the grass clumps. I might expect this in the Spring when the lawn is extra thick and long. But now (August) the grass is thin and dry. I know that my 15 year old Sears mower (which just died) wouldn't leave clippings under these conditions.

My old Sears mower had a plug that you had to insert and remove when you went from mulching to bagging. It was a pain to do that, but I wonder if the plug helped with the shape of the mulching chamber.

What a shame because everything else about this mower is great. I even tried the bag and it seems to pickup pretty well.

      Same problem here in Tennessee.

I've tried max speed of the engine/blade and as slow as I can walk, yet I get the same result -- clumped grass.

      Kind of ridiculous.

The thing that blows me away about this Husqvarna mower is that it looks sensational. Good looking design. 1-step height adjustment (but it doesn't go low enough), and a self-propelled function that really doesn't push the power along very well, and a blade brake that has a tendency to shake the machine back and forth violently -- but when it is NOT engaged.

      Very strange machine.
