    Question:
I have a HU725 self propelled mower. It does not have a bubble primer or a choke. It ran great until I ran out of gas and now after re-fueling it will not crank. It cranked very easy every time before I ran out of gas.

It very possible you have an auto-choke engine.

If you feel uncomfortable doing any of the following things please carry the mower to a shop that you trust for repairs.

Since it just ran out fuel and won't start I would first start by checking for spark at the spark plug. If you have spark there then you probably still have fuel related issue. If no spark at the plug then check for spark where the plug attaches to the plug. If spark is there then you have a bad plug. If no spark there then you have ignition system failure.

The operator present cable may not be disengaging the kill switch which can check by removing the ignition coil kill wire. Beware here once the kill wire is disconnected there is only few ways to stop the engine from running should it start. Most times the engine brake can stop the engine but sometimes it requires pulling the plug wire.

Spark plugs can and do fail at anytime without warning. Also an operator present cable can be borderline working and fail without notice too.
