    Question:
I purchased a husqvarna 128cd string trimmer and want to replace the string head with a quick replace unit (I seam to have issues with the string needing constant replacement and want a quick/easy fix). How do I take off the head so that I can replace it with a quick replacement head?

    Thank you for contacting AnswerARMY.

Please refer to page 14 of your Operators/Owners manual for information on "Assembly" of the trimmer gaurd and trimmer head.

    Note from the manual.

Only use cutting attachments with the guards we recommend! See the section on "Technical Data".

Husqvarna does not recommend the use of any head other than the TNG-7 or the T25 for the 128CD.

this doesn't work, you cannot remove the head from the 128 cd, I don't know why they list a replacement head for this trimmer it cannot be removed and customer service is a joke I won't be buying another husky

That's weird, the giant hexagonal but looking thing on the top of the head.... The one that screams hold me with a wrench and twist.... Seemed to work just fine and I've never had a problem with customer service.

Totally agree with you Mike.  We are having the same problem right now and the head just spins.  Page 14 of the manual does NOT work!

I don't know what the crying is about. Page 14 perfectly describes what is required to remove the head from the 128cd. Simply take a pair of channel locks and grab the hexagonal fitting above the head and then twist the head counter clockwise. Comes right off

There must be at the minimum two different styles of the 128CD head. The one i have, and what others are complaining about on here CAN"T be removed!! The hexagonal head you mention is is part of the head....ALL ONE PIECE!!! Thanks for thinking your so much smarter than the rest of us!

Well. It may LOOK like one piece but it is not.  Use a crescent wrench or large channel locks to hold the hex and twist head counter clockwise (looking at the head from the bottom). It will come right off. It looks seamless but it's not. And very often I am smarter than everyone else around me.

Hey Robert , what is the best way to tighten on the new head ? I have a after market head . I put it on and grabbed the cable with a pair of channel locks and tightened up as tight as I could get it . If it doesn't hold I may have to get a lock nut .

Seems like this is years too late but you can remove head easily. After you unsnap the auto feed part and remove the spool you will see a blue cup. Depress blue cup all the way down and spin counter clock wise. This is for the model I purchased today in year 2014. If the cable spins or you need to retigten the bolt. Take the bootm section off and but a socket wrench on the cable and you can tighted very easy

Any chance you can help out the rest of us? I got the blue piece off but now stuck with black piece and spring sticking out. Thanks

Not or sure if you've broken the feed button or not, but...

There is a hexagonal body on the shaft end of the head. Hold it and spin the head with your hand.
