Brand new DRT900H tiller. Put it together runs great on...escalated

    Question:
Brand new DRT900H tiller. Put it together runs great on idle or moving it to the Garden. I can engage the tines in the air and still runs good. As soon as I drop it in the groud, under load the engine surges constantly and consistantly. No change in the RPMs as it hits harder or softer soil. The machine bounces forward and back. This can't be normal? Somewhat hard to handle when tilling. Locale dealer is working on it and can't seem to figure it out. Replaced Carborator, he feels that it is not normal but is it a characteristic of the tines or this machine? Anybody have the same problem?
    Details:

Anybody having this same issue, is it normal. any fix for it?  I don't think its normal for an $800 machine to run in this way. My old $150 POS MTD lawnmower works better under load.  I would think a really nice Honda motor would do better.  Any help or directions on this.  Thanks.

Hey Ken, just wondering if you ever got this issue resolved? I'm having the exact same problem. Thanks Terry.

Terry, no it runs the same as before.  The local dealer worked on it for a while with no change in operation.  He actually took a brand new one out and it was the same.  He also took out a new one with the Briggs motor and tried it.  Thinking it was the Honda engine.  It did the same thing.  I think its designed that way or its the tine layout that causes that surging.  I saw a youtube video of a guy tilling his yard with it and it sounded and looked just like what mine-yours was doing.  He apparently was not bothered by it.  I find it very annoying for this type of machine.

We are just living with it and it does do the job, just not what we were expecting.  It is much worse with the tines in reverse, forward is much more manageable.  I think its a very poor design/major flaw and would not recommend purchasing one.  There are other tillers out there that don't run like that even without the nice Honda engine.

Hey Ken, Thanks for your response. I just picked mine up from the dealer, they continue to tell me this is normal. They have a rental unit that they ran next to mine and it does the same thing. I just can't accept the fact that this is "normal". I've been around and worked on gas engines for a living for the last 30+ years. To me, the way these run is unacceptable. I assumed Husqvarna was a higher quality product, guess I assumed wrong. I don't believe this is an air/fuel ratio issue. This is an over sensitive governor issue. There has to be a way to "desensitize" this governor. I will continue to work to find a cure for this concern and if/when I find it I will let you know. It may not be until spring as the soil here is starting to freeze. Running this tiller is just plain annoying!  I refuse to throw $900 down the drain on this crap product. Unfortunately I'm stuck with it. I'll keep you posted. Terry
