It is upsetting that you have experienced this problem.
Please refer to the operators manual on adjusting the ground speed, this is how the speed is controlled by allowing the belt to slip.
If the ground speed can no longer be adjusted then the belt may need to be replaced but I doubt after just six weeks it is usually 3-4 years.
