    Hi Leslie -

My name is Michelle and I also have this lawn tractor, relatively new owner - purchased 11/2011.  I find that my mower will ALSO stall when I engage the mower deck!  It's frustrating!  I have found that if I start the mower, and just drive it around the yard for 5-10 minutes letting it completely warm up THEN try and engage the mower blades, it has worked for me.  (This has worked for me until today!)  Couple of helpful hints:

    1.  Drive around for a few laps around your yard, let the machine completely warm up before you try to engage the mowing blades.

    2.  After sufficient warm up period, make sure that you're pushing the engine speed all the way up to fast (and the throttle handle slips into that little groove) before you try to engage the mowing blades.

    3.  Push that mowing blade engagement arm up slowly... I've killed mine several times by pushing it forward too quickly.

TODAY:  I completely finished mowing my front yard this morning, then returned the tractor to the back yard and turned it off.  (While I put a few supplies in the shed.)  The machine was turned off for no more than 10 mins (therefore, it should still be WARM).  When I turned it on to mow the backyard, the mowing blades wouldn't engage without stalling the machine.  So... I drove around for another 10 mins - STILL NO LUCK.  Very, very frustrating...

Sorry to hear someone else is having this issue!  (If any of the helpful hints above help you - GREAT!  If not, that makes two of us having this trouble!)
