Service & Maintenance Question posted May 15, 2014 by G W in Husqvarna: Ask & Answer > String Trimmers public
    Question:
What is "Husqvarna special grease", for string-trimmer angle gears?
    Details:

I have a Husqvarna 225L trimmer from about 1999, still in good condition, well kept and relatively low hours for its age.

The manual(and the manuals of several other models from that time period) says to use "Husqvarna special grease" in the angle gear, but no part number is given and I can find no record of there ever having been such a product.

What type of grease is it, or what is it compatible with? (lithium soap, lithium complex, polyurea, aluminum complex, calcium complex, weird transparent neon-green Shimano jelly, beef tallow? EP rated? Stiffness NLGI 00, 1, 2, 3? Is the lube base low or high viscosity, mineral oil, PAO(common full synthetic) or polyglycol?)

And just to nip a potential bad answer in the bud: Just because it is filled at the factory does not mean that it never needs to be topped up, or that it doesn't break down. I also do all my own maintenance as my day job is industrial engineering(hands on type).
