    Question:
    I have a new RZ4623 and the drive belt that powers the hydrostatic drive motors keeps jumping off the pulleys when I turn at slow speed. I asked this question in the Warranty section but I have not received a workable answer from the factory reps. I am an auto engineer so understand what is going on mechanically. I know the belt is not damaged nor or the pulleys damaged or misaligned. The only thing I can see is the spring that preloades the idler pulley is not putting enough tension on the belt to keep it from developing a wave and jumping off the pulleys. I tried to get the factory to send me a new spring but it looks like that will never happen. They want me to take it to the Lowes I bought it from, the one that left the seat interlock connecter unplugged and the pivot bolts out of the seat. Do any of you guys have any thoughts?

    Drive belt jumping off of pulleys....Answeredescalated3

    Question:
    Drive belt jumping off of pulleys.
    Model=RZ4623,ID=966764501
    Serial #: 041211C002523
    Purchased 5/26/11
    I am having trouble with the drive belt jumping off the pulleys, even at slow speeds while turning. I bought the RZ4623 from a local Lowes and they know nothing about the mower. They didn't even have it set up correctly when they delivered it. I had to connect the seat interlock safety switch and go back to them for bolts to connect the seat to the mower deck. I'm an automotive engineer so I can follow instructions pretty well if you can deal with me directly. It seems the spring applying force to the idler pulley is too weak to keep the belt from developing a wave large enough to jump the lip of the pulley when I try to turn. It only jumps every other week or so, but the mower only has 9 hours on it.
