Thank you Michael. You are right.  None of the available Husky guys know the answer to the question.  Where is Amy??  I called the information line for Husky and they told me that all models had K46.  I wondered if the customer support line was in India or somewhere in Europe.  They don't even know their own product.  They also don't have any online chat capability.  At least Sears has that capability, although I don't know that they know much on this topic.

I called Sears Parts Direct and they wanted nothing to do with a K46 transmission replacement for my Craftsman lawn tractor, which was built by Husky.  This surprised me and I got a bit angry and asked to talk to a manager.  Under duress, he agreed to get me one for $900.  I declined.

I then called Sears lawn and garden and asked if any of their new garden tractor models had a K66.  After several minutes of checking, they said no.  No Craftsman's had K66 but there was a 54" with a K58.  Even though they call them garden tractors!  I am not sure I believe the knucklehead I talked to.

I am having some difficulty deciding whether to replace the transaxle with another cheaper crappy K46, go for the K66 upgrade kit for $1,800 or maybe go with a new Husky.  Maybe buy a Deere, but Deere's with K66 are pricey.   Perhaps buy a used Deere.  I have a perfectly good well maintained B&S Intek 24 HP engine and tractor and it seems a shame to junk it out.  My slight hills in my lawn apparently burn out the K46.
