Hi Steven
Thank you for using the Answer Army.
We at Husqvarna are aware of the rattling noise coming from the brake assembly and there are a few quick fixes that can be preformed to stop the annoying noise. To keep your warranty status we would suggest taking your machine to your local service dealer and have those guy's take a look at it. It is not a detrimental problem and there is nothing wrong with your machine, but going through the service center will keep your warranty intact. I have attached a link below to help you find a service center near you.

As for the brown spots in you grass, with EPA restrictions in California getting tighter and tighter everyday we are having to run our machines leaner and leaner to stay within the parameters set forth by the Government. When you run an engine lean it builds up heat and is therefore transmitted out the only exit on the machine, your exhaust. The browning of the grass is from running the machine while it is sitting for a prolonged period, and will turn back to green after a few days. The only thing we can recommend is to either shut down your machine if it is going to be parked for a prolonged period, or park in your driveway or on a solid service to keep the ground from overheating.
I hope this helps and if you need anything else just let us at the Answer Army know.
I too am working on a GTH27V52 LS, 96043009101, 2010-03 with a similar issue. However I also have the brake rod rubbing on the idler pulley and the Husqvarna IPL does not match what I am working on? There is a different HydroGear transmission installed "G7-BCBB-1XDC-1FCA" 420331 and at the end where the rod is attached to the braking mechanism it is connected to a sprint not directly to the braking mechanism therefore this is allowing the rod to float and drag on the Torque Strap. I have pictures and I have not been able to get help from my Husqvarna Dealer Help line (as I am an authorized dealer)
