    Question:
I have a 2 year old YTA24V48. I was using it two days ago an briefly shut it down. A minute later I tried to restart it, but nothing happened when I turned the key. No click, buzz or anything. I tried putting a jumper across the starter solenoid and it immediately fired up. I could then restart it using the key, but after about 3 times (testing the restart) it was again silent. I can get it to turn over by jumping the solenoid, but it will not fire. I have fully charged the battery, there is a spark and gas is getting through. Is it possible there is a fault with a safety switch, or maybe the ignition switch?

I have replaced all the gas with new and fitted a new fuel filter. The battery has been checked, and is good. I can start the motor if I spray starter fluid into the intake, and it will continue running until I stop it. Will not start without starter fluid, just cranks over. Still will not crank on the key, still no clicks or any sounds when I try and key start. The seat and brake safety switches both appear to be working.

Is the fuel solenoid on the carburetor clicking when you turn on the ignition switch? If not check your fuse.

Fixed and running. The fuse was (is) OK. I was checking the solenoid, thought it was maybe faulty. Trying to trace where the wiring was going, there's thin gauge black white and red wires. The red wire has an inline connector which literally came apart as soon as I touched it. I firmly reconnected it until it clicked, and now it starts instantly on the key. Thanks to all who read this and offered help.
