    Question:
455 Rancher continually throws chain. It is a saw approx 2 years old and has limited homeowner use. Sprocket seems to be in good condition and chain tension is set every time before use. I have owned saws for 45+ years and this is the first saw which would not keep a chain on the bar. Several saws I previously owned had plates on the front & back (under the side panel) which kept the chain on. Does Husqvarna have these available? Anyone else have this problem? Found a solution? GREAT saw otherwise but need help with this one! Thanks.....

Are you sure you have the correct chain and bar setup for this saw? This saw can be setup to use either .325 or .375 (3/8) use but you can not mix them up without having problems and this can be done easily done if you don't pay attention to the setup.

Thank you E. Rounds for your reply.    I will check tomorrow but I would think the manufacturer would not put the wrong bar, chain and sprocket but you never know.   Anyway, thanks again!   Do you happen to know if Husqvarna makes the thin chain guides which many other manufacturers use?

If the saw was already setup when you purchased it then yes as I seen that before where a bar was sold off a new saw and then later replaced.

I think your referring to those side plates like Homelite used to use. The ones I have seen on some models are attached to the chain brake cover and use metal shield on the crankcase that is also part of the oil pump cover but nothing like those separate one the Homelite used.
