    Question:
455 chain coming off bar. I bought a 455 about four months ago that has done a fairly good job until recently. (Although it seems a bit lacking in power for a saw of its size.) After probably 5-6 total hours of use it started throwing the chain every 10 minutes or so. Following the directions for tensioning the chain each time doesn't seem to help. Now the chain comes off the bar as soon as the blade is engaged? (Rendering the saw useless.) I can't see anything in the bar/chain path that would be causing an issue? Please advise possible solutions.

    Damien,

Thanks for contacting Husqvarna to post your questions.

Once the chain gets thrown off the bar the chain very likely need to be replaced. You can check all the drive links but you may not be able to see a slight deflection, which will cause the chain to keep jumping off. I would start with a new chain and go from there, you may need to replace the bar as well. You can check the trueness of the bar by laying it on a known flat surface, preferably a metal top. Look for light under the bar on both sides. If there is any uneven spaces you would need to replace it as well. This generally happens when the bar gets bound up in the wood and trying to remove it can cause the bar to bend slightly.

Thanks again from the Husqvarna team.
