    Question:
I have a 450e Husqvarna chainsaw that I bought in March 2010. I have had problems with the chain comming lose since I took it home (within 20 minutes of use and the chain was shot). This model only has one nut to tighten the clutch cover. I end up spending more time checking and adjusting the chain then I am cutting firewood.

Also, I have had problems with the gas line comming off while I am cutting. This has happened two or three times over the past year. When I took it into the dealer I bought it from he told me he had never heard of that happening before.

The saw is extreamlt difficult to start when it is warm. When it is cold it starts in 2 or 3 pulls.

I have been using a Husqvarna 350 for 10 years and have had very little problems with it. I was hoping to buy another one, but the dealer said you were not making them any more and that the 450 was replacing it.

Thank you for contacting the Answer Army.

Sorry you are having issues with your 450e chain saw.

Sounds like two of the three issues you have with this chain saw may come from cutting with a dull chain.

Saw chains can get very dull, very fast depending on how the chain is used. Cutting old dry hardwood such as oak will dull a chain quickly. Add to this that if cutting near the ground and the chain contacts the ground, a dull chain can happen within minutes.

The fuel line coming off could be a case where the chain is dull and extra pressure is exerted to make the cut. This pulls the handle away (in a undercut) and could result in the fuel line coming off.

Hot restart of the 450e chain saw could be a variety of issues. From incorrect mix oil and low octane gas or carburetor adjustment or incorrect spark plug or spark plug gap.

Please contact an authorized Husqvarna dealer in your area for evaluation and repair.
