Chainsaws

 I just got my second 36 volt 4.2 amp hour battery for the cordless top handle chainsaw.  The first one has 2014 on it and the new(er) one has 2015 on it.  The first one all I have to do to see the charge level is push the button.  The new one I have to turn the tool off or take the battery out for the charge indicator to work.  Is this a defect in the new one or has a change been made for some reason.  I prefer the 2014 one's properties.
