    Question:
I bought a RZ5424 mower new this spring and have a problem with leveling the deck to where it doesn't look like it is cutting lower on the discharge side of the deck on all 3 blades. I even replaced the blades, which helped some but not completely. Can you help me please?

    Hey Wilky,

Thank you for contacting Answer Army.  The below information can be found in the Owner's Manual regarding the adjust of the deck.

    Adjusting the Mower Deck

Adjust the deck while the mower is on a level surface. Make sure the tires are inflated to the correct pressure. See “Technical Data” under Transmission.  If tires are under or over inflated, the deck cannot be properly adjusted.  The deck should be adjusted slightly higher in the rear.

NOTE: To insure accuracy of leveling procedure, mower deck drive belt must be installed prior to leveling deck.  Wear heavy gloves. Turn each outer blade tip to

    1. Align with the deck or in a side-to-side manner.

    2. Measure from the floor surface up to the bottom of the blade tip on the discharge side of the mower deck. Retain this measurement.

    3. Move to the opposite side, check that measurement is the same. If adjustment is required—with a ¾" or adjustable wrench, turn the lift link adjustment nuts on either side counterclockwise to lower or clockwise to raise. Adjust until both side-to-side measurements are equal.

    4. Turn any blade to align with the deck in front-to-rear manner.  If the front blade tip does not measure 1/8" to ½" higher in the rear, follow the front adjustment instructions that follow.

    5. With a 5. 5/8 or adjustable wrench, turn the nuts on the front suspension linkage. Clockwise raises the front of the mower, counterclockwise will lower the front.  Adjust nuts until rear of mower deck is positioned level to 1/8" higher in the rear than the side-to-side measurement.

NOTE: This will place the mower deck in a base measurement position. Additional adjustment maybe required to achieve desired cut for the type ofgrass or conditions being mowed.

        Hello,

I have a similar issue. I just bought mine, but I have not used it yet because I wanted to make sure the deck was leveled before messing up my grass. However, this is my first zero turn and the deck is not as easy to adjust as a riding tractor... I understand that when measuring side to side, the measurement on both sides have to be the same; when measuring front to back, it says the measurement must be 1/8 to 1/2 higher in the rear than the front and 1/8 higher than the side to side measurement. My questions are: do you have measure both side blades of the deck? does the measurements on both sides have to be the same or as long as they meet the prior established criteria (measurements) is good? Do I have to do anything with the middle blade or not? I been trying to level this deck for almost a week and am not able to make this measurements match because every time you adjust one nut, it affects the measurement on the opposite side as well... PLEASE HELP!!!

I have a similar issue. I just bought my first zero turn and I have not been able to use it because I wanted to make sure the deck was leveled before it tear up my lawn. I quickly learned that leveling the deck on this machines is not as easy as on the riding tractors... I been trying to get this numbers to match for a week now with no luck!

I understand that you level the side to side measurements first and that both sides measurements must be equal. When doing the front to rear, the back must be higher that the front by 1/8 to 1/2 inch and 1/8 higher than the side to side measurement.

My question are: Do you balance (front to rear) both side blades or just the discharge side? and if so, do both side measurements have to be equal? I mean, if the front tip of my left blade measure 2 1/2" and the rear tip measure 3" from the ground, does the front tip of my right blade need to measure 2 1/2" and the rear tip 3" from the ground as well? If that is the case, then something has to be wrong with my deck because, like I said before, I been trying for a week now to make this numbers match and there is no way in hell... and no, the blades are not bend (at least they don't appear to be). PLEASE HELP!!!
