    Question:
I purchased the Z246 about 2 1/2 months ago. After reading, I decided to lubricate the grease fittings. All of the fittings took grease except for the throttle side of the deck spindle. I swapped fittings and still, it would not take any grease. The fitting was removed and placed in the grease gun and the gun pushed greased. Could there be a blockage in the spindle? Kinda wondering...

    Thanx

Could be but there is only one way that of to know for sure and that is too disassemble the spindle and check that shaft passes grease. Someone might of missed cross drilling it.

Thank you.  I may take the spindle off and check it out.  I took the grease fitting off and was able to push a plastic zip tie into it.  Could not detect any blockage.  I dont want to force the grease in.  Someone mentioned the pinhole grease adapter but I kinda ruled that out if the fitting actually passes grease.  Another post was fire up the mower, engage the blades for a few minutes and try it again.  Cant be any old hard grease build up in there, the mower is like 3 months old!  Can the shaft be full?  I dont want to blow a seal.  And lastly, should I be able to see where the grease comes out, like under the deck and above the blade?  Thats the only way I have ever know to stop.  All very odd for a new mower.  Thank you again, sir for all of your assistance.

I don't know how long the those spindle actually been on the deck but I would advise not to try unbolting them as many the bolt will just snap off them in for a new spindle. Just disassembly the spindle while it s hub is still attached to the deck. Once the pulley side nut is off the shaft should comes the bottom of the deck. Might a little bump with a hammer but put the nut back most of the way to protect the threads.

I see.  So leave the hub attached with the 4 bolts.  Remove the nut where the zerk is screwed into on the top of the deck holding the pulley on.  Tap the spindle with the nut partially threaded on and that assembly should come out the bottom of the deck where the blade is attached.  , just the spindle with the zerk on top of it.  Sounds good.

I try to clean the underside of the deck frequently.  Could I have lodged something in that shaft/spindle thus not permitting grease to come out?  Just grasping at straws here...
