Question:
I have a ztr mower with a 46 in deck and Kohler engine. Went to start it yesterday, and all it does is make a kind of buzzing noise. Starter is not engaging. I charged the battery. It's at 100%. Any ideas?

Need model number to see what you have. Don't know if you have solenoid shift starter or one with a remote starter relay.

It is an: RZ4623/967009801 with a Kohler Courage23 engine. It was purchased in 2012.

Okay this one should have the remote solenoid so find and while using a screw driver (perferrably one you don't mind damaging) jumper across the two large terminals. If the starter is okay it should crank the engine. If does crank it then it is likely the solenoid is bad as they don't burned internally and no longer make contact. If engine doesn't crank then you have either a bad starter or possibly a loose ground.
