Hi Cahrles,
Thank you for using the Answer Army to post your questions.
All saws leak some bar oil, per the owners manual the units are to be stored empty. The oil tank vent allows air in during cooling contraction, then as the ambient temperature heats up the oil starts to expand. Once it expands it can not go back out the vent so it is pushed through the oil pump. Again your best bet is to store the unit with the oil tank as empty as possible.
Normally I wouldnt have too much of an issue with this answer, but being as I just bought this same model saw, put bar oil in it before ever running it and it leaked out, I'd say you guys have an issue that needs to be addressed!
I too have a 455 rancher that I purchased new and it has leaked out the bar oil from the tank since the first time I placed bar oil in it. i had another issue that cause me to take it into the local repair shop who i may add are not a husqvarna repair center were they found that the hole in the oil tank were the oil line goes in was too big so it cant seal so the oil leaks out this was from the factory so it was a defect. the saw is out of warrenty so only choice for me is too replace the case at a out of pocket cost. so if you are having the same issue i am i would take back too dealer and complain you would think for a 400 plus dollars saw they would have better quality control.
