    Question:
My Husqvarna 345e is not getting bar oil to the chain. It just drips out the bottom. I have cleaned the bar (oil holes and guide along side). I cant figure out why the oil is not traveling to the chain, and just dripping out the bottom.

Nick, Three things that you can check:

      1. Check that No debris fell into bar oil tank, easiest way is to empty the bar chain oil out of the saw, add a little parts cleaner/ gasoline compatible solvent to the tank, slosh it around and dump that out, I dump mine into a strainer funnel that has a screen in it, because If there is debris like leaves or wood chips, I want to know I got it out. Then refil the bar oil tank with a "good bar chain oil".

      2. Check the small Duck bill vent for the oil tank that it is not plugged, or filled with sawdust, they are fairly reasonable so maybe just replace the vent. Its located on the bar side of the chain saw near the top of the oil tank, you will need to remove the clutch cover, the bar and chain as well. You may need an IPL diagram for your saw, if your not familiar with component locations. The oil tank has to be vented to get the pump to get the oil out.

      3. Check the gear driven oil pump, this will take a little dissassembly but its really not too difficult, If your not familiar with how or don't have an IPL parts diagram, or If the chainsaw is still under warranty, then take it to a authorized repair center, and have them check it out. Oh, the oil pumps are not too expensive either, and you could just replace the pump.

Also just one more thought and question, Did anyone take apart the clutch and drive sprocket? If that was removed its possible that the oil pump gear which is located directly behind the clutch is not engaging the gear properly for the oil pump. To get to that component you would have to remove the clutch and drive sprocket which gets a little more involved, or again go to an authorized repair center.

I hope the above information helps.

      Thanks Kari.

No one has taken the saw apart. It is fairly new (3years) and I lonly use it to cut 3-4 cords of firewood a year.

I think I will try the Duck bill vent first.

      Thanks again.
