    Question:
455 rancher. Doing overhaul, installing new piston and ring. This is my first time doing this. I see on youtube useing a degree wheel to "set the timeing" To me, I don't see any kind of adjustments for that? I think he was doing this because he milled the jug to increase compression/squish? Looks like I just put the flywheel on the crank keyway.

If doing stock then there no special need to set timing. The degree wheel changing port timing due squish changes. Flywheel keyed to the crankshaft so no adjustments are possible without modification.

In case don't already have the piston kit. PN 537 29 30-04 Piston for 47mm bore and Ring 47mm x 1.5mm

Thankyou for the wisdom. I have bought 2 pistons with rings. I'm interesred in possible mod's for better performance and have been watching guys on you tube but have not seen enough to actually modify my saws. Best bet is too leave them stock, they have plenty of power. Any thoughts on that Eugene?

      Vince,

Personally I not into the mods myself as primary just repair them for customers. Those are modding them are usually users that building race saws. I usually just leave them stock so other techs would not have problems later if the customer uses a different shop later.

If like more info on modding then I suggest you check out the arboristsite.com forum group. Here is a link to the chainsaw forum of theirs.
