    Question:
I have had to replace the brake cable. Why does it take so much foot pressure in order to stop the riding mower?
    Details:

The brake cable has a plastic clip on each end of the cable that snaps into the retaining bracket. If I depress the brake pedal hard enough, such as when trying to engage the parking brake, the pressure pulls the steel cable casing right through the plastic clip rendering the cable useless. Now that I have a new cable installed, I'm afraid to put much pressure on the brake pedal. Shouldn't these clips be made of metal?

Thank you for contacting Answer ARMY.

The brake cable anchors should not cause any issues, if the cable were to pull out or through in the warranty period, this would obviously be warrantable.

The brake is designed to have certain pressure on it so that the mower will not roll on a certain slope degree.

I like how my brake cable decided to break the first time using my mower after it spent a month in the service dept, getting the transmission replaced. my wife couldnt stop and ended up hitting my car. looks like my mower is going back to the repair shop (where it has spent more time than in my garage)
