    Question:
This isn't a question as much as a comment. 335FR purchased 6/22/11. Put in service 7/14/11 for grass/weed clearing in trail corridor. Basically the long & short of it is the motor ceased. Dealer indicates the crankshaft or crank bearings are shot and the piston is scored = motor rebuild. They also indicated pilot error and a non-warrantable repair to the tune of $400.00. Here's my comment: I currently own a 1987 Model 61, an 1994 Model 51, and a 2007 265RX forestry cutter. All of which are still going strong after years of commercial use (I'm a trail contractor). That's a testimony to the care I give my machines... I am dismayed that after only 2months of use this 335 failed. Fuel was the same, maintenance was the same, use habits were the same. I am also somewhat dismayed that the dealers 1st assumption was "pilot error". So now I sit here 4 months after purchase with a (as of yet) non-functioning 335 that has less than 35hours on it that I will have almost 1K invested in. Unbelievable.

Thank you for contacting the AnswerARMY.

It is very upsetting that you have had this failure.

I am very glad you have had such great service with previous products. I would ask that you have the dealer evaluate and explain better what has happened.

Some information I should give information that the models you list are not X-Torque models and only the 265RX is an emission compliant engine save the 335FR. Being an emission compliant engine meeting the next tier of emissions certification and being X-Torque the 335FR runs very lean, for this reason it is EXTREMELY important that the fuel be FRESH no more than 30 days old and that a HIGH QUALITY two stroke mix oil either Husqvarna XP Pro or Husqvarna Low Smoke or other JASO FD certified ( must have certification information on bottle ) oil be used.

The 335FR has been and is a great unit at about half the displacement of the 265RX. It is upsetting that you have had this failure and I would encourage that you review the type of oil and fuel that you are using as well discuss the failure with the dealer.

Well, I was torn between buying a 336FR and a Stihl FS310.  After the treatment you received, I will be going over to the Stihl dealer.  If enough guys like me post, maybe the Husqvarna customer service will dance to a different tune.

And it gets even better!  I replace the 335 with a 336FR in December 2011.  It's hug on the wall since then (never started) partly because I've been afraid to try it (thinking it'll just fail as well) and partly because we didn't have any work for it (the 265RX is still our mainstay)  We'll, we broke it out last week and...  Brand new fuel, properly mixed with husqvarna low smoke oil, fuel stabilizer, and the same we run in all our other two strokers.  No full throttle, babying it, and...

IT WENT SOUR AFTER LESS THAN AN HOUR OF USE!  AND NOW IT WON"T EVEN START!  NEEDLESS TO SAY I'M PISSED!  ONE HOUR GUYS!

YOU CAN TAKE YOUR FINICKY X-TORQUE CRAP AND STUFF IT UP YOUR ***!

IF YOU DON'T COVER ME ON THIS, OR IF YOU THROW THE BLAME BACK TO ME THERE WILL BE A CLASS ACTION SUIT, I PROMISE!

      UN F'N BELIEVABLE!
