Question:
I have a 700H walk behind mower. The pull cord stopped coming out when pulled. It will come out when the top housing is taken off and will come out when it is pulled a little bit at a time. There does not appear to be anything broken. I know there is a brake in there but everything looks fine. I think my mother may have tried to start it without depressing the bar but i fail to see how that could disrupt anything?
Answer
Check engine brake cable as it may not be releasing the engine's flywheel brake. THese cable tend to corrode and stick in their housings.

The mower is only maybe 2 years old. I checked it out and the cable is moving. Not sure why the brake is not releasing
