Question:
I HAVE A CUSTOMER WITH A WHITE TRACTOR AND SHE TELLS ME THEY HAVE REPLACED THE SOLINOID 4 TIMES. THE TRACTOR COMES TO ME AND I TRY TO START IT A CLICK IS ALL I GET. CHARGED THE BATTERY AND TESTED THE SOLINOID, ONLY 12 VOLTS ON 1 SIDE OF THE SOLINOID.IT IS A 3 POLE AND I CLEAN UP THE GROUND SAME THING HAPPENS. I JUMP THE SOLINOID AND SHAZAM POWER TO THE STARTER. WHY IS THIS TRACTOR EATING SOLINOIDS?
Answer
First all the White mowers that I know of are MTDs (Modern Tool and Die) manufactured. As for the starter I would done a current draw test on the starter as it may have partially shorted windings, bad bushings causing binding, or there is excessive cranking being done due a non start conditions.
