    Question:
Husqvarna 322C - motor loose on shaft.

Have a Husqvarna 322C purchased new in 1999 or 2000. Had become troublesome to start & would only infrequently. During the last few times I was able to start it, it felt like where the handle & shaft joined to the motor housing was loose.

During the most recent attempt to crank it, when I placed it on the ground to hold the throttle, it came apart. Meaning, the shaft & handle became disconnected from the motor end, with only the kill switch wire & throttle cable holding it.

When putting it back together, I am able to get the shaft back in to the clutch & put everything back together, but I am able to take the motor and turn it freely on the shaft. The shaft can stay stationary & I can take the entire motor assembly & turn it 90 degrees in either direction. Best I can tell, the compression sleeves (2) are intact, and the isolator housing is gripping the top of the shaft properly (the handle assembly does not turn on the shaft).

When the shaft/handle separated from the motor recently, I don't know if something sheared off that was supposed to hold them stationary to each other, or if something is not seated properly. I've only seen it with the shaft & handle off, and the tube (503 96 36-01) falling out of it. The schematics are of limited help. As it is now, the tube is at the top of the shaft, and the tube, shaft & cable is inserted between the compression sleeves which are inside the clutch housing.

Was something possibly sheared off when it broke that would hold the motor in place? If so, what? If not, what is the correct location & orientation of these parts to keep the motor stationary?
