    Question:
Have a 16" 240e chainsaw. Top plastic cover is held on with three screws, each goes into a brass fitting. One of the fittings is stripped. Local repair person says cannot fix, must buy whole new housing. Is this true? Thank you.

With these fitting being pressed in and not available separately I would say yes that you would need a new chassis. I personally don't know anything in the aftermarket area that would replace it as I don't think there is enough plastic bulk in that area.

If there is enough then you might be able to put thread insert in there but I would check with a machine shop on that.

      Thank you.

I will get a tap and try to restore the threads.
