    Question:
I just got a poulan pro pp4620 avx, used it about 3 to 4 hours. I can not keep the chain tight, have to stop about 10 minutes and tighten it up. I know the chain will strech a little being new, but after 3-4 hours of use one should not have to stop every 10 minutes and tighten it up. Is my new saw defective?

Thank you for contacting the AnswerARMY.

    There are really four possibilities.

First, when you adjust the chain tension the saw must be turned off and have been allowed to cool, when adjusting the chain tension make sure to pickup on the bar and chain when tightening.

Second, the chain is not getting enough oil the bar and chain should use between 1/2 -3/4 tank of oil for every tank of fuel.

Third, someone may have pinched the bar and bent the crankshaft this will cause the chain to continually stretch. This is not a defect but something that has happened while using the saw to cause the crankshaft to bend.

Lastly, you may have a problem with the Tool less adjuster.

In all situations the local dealer should be able to answer the problem, they can check to see if the crank has been bent, takes less than a minute, and can check the oiler by running the machine this again is very quick and easy another minute or two.
