    Question:
Just replaced both belts on my husqvarna yth1542xp tractor. Put everything back together exactly as it came undone. Now, although I hear click from electric clutch, mover belt will not engage on lower pulley. Tried hand pull on belt, seems to work fine with no resistance to pull. Please advise.

Double check your deck belt routing. It sounds as though it's not routed correctly. There is actually a diagram on the deck and the manual to show the proper route for the belt.

Also, double check ALL of the hangers and make sure they are in the correct holes. Sometimes, and I see this alot, the hangers end up in the rear most holes on the deck and cause the belt to be too loose. Also, make sure the tensioner cable and spring are attached to the idler properly.

You were right, although I originally check routing of belt, with all the manuvering, belt around one of mower deck pulleys had become dislodged.  With proper tension, mower works like a charm, thanks for input.

Glad I could help and happy to hear your mower is working correctly.
