    Question:
When I am buying parts they ask me the model number of my Husqvarna 455 Rancher chain saw in one of the choices in the following format:
    2004-01, 2005-03, 2006-02, 2006-06, 2007-01, 2009-10.

The numbers on the chainsaw nameplate are in this format:
    965 03 02-00
    sn 07 1302191
    4hvx5.0565aa
    e5*97/68sh363*2002/88*0065*00
Could you please make sense out of those numbers, or tell me what my model number is?

      Joel,

Use the 2007 diagrams and parts list, If you notice in your Serial number (sn 07 1302191), the "07" is the year of manufacture. I have two 455 ranchers, and on my sn format ( 2010 xxxx *** and 2011 xxxxxxx) and the year format is now the first four digits, older models were the first two digits. I hope this helps. You might also search Husqvarna FAQ's, I believe this question was answered a few times in the past, If I get a chance latter I can search the FAQ's for you.

Some additional Info which I just found on searching FAQ's:

"The first number on the older saws is the last number of the year. Here is an example 510263. That serial would make this saw a 1985 or 95 year model depending on the color of the top of the saw made in the tenth week of the year. We have used three colors thru the years. The 70's are white. the 80's are black and the 90's till present are orange. We started using double digits in 2000. Those serial numbers start with 00. So a 2008 model would be 0812345. Hope this helps."

Kind of Interresting, So here is a summary. Before 2000, first digit of SN number and specific color, after 2000 used the first two digits of SN, and after 2010 use the first four digits. I see a trend here, Lol. Again, I hope this is helpful.
