Question:

I bought Husqvarna YTH20K46 in Aug 09 was cutting grass and stop to put it in reverse and it would not go in reverse or forward?

Hey Pete,

Thank you for for contacting Answer Army. There are a few key items that you may want to review in your Owner's Manual book, but I have also outlined a few key aspects below that may help you now.

First, when wanting to operate your mower in reverse be sure that the key is placed in the ROS "ON" position. Then engage your clutch to prepare for the reverse gear. Second, if you are not able to operate in any direction currently please check your Free Wheel Control located at rear drawbar of the tractor. Attached is an image displaying the "ON" and "OFF" position. Be sure that this control is engaged to use the tractor. Lastly, if this does not help you please visit your local servicing dealer.

I have the same tractor bought in May 2011 and mine too quit going in reverse or forward because my belt kept jumping off and stared looking into the problem and found the free wheel control piece broke and the bolts holding the transmission up properly came out or broke. This is a major defect in the tractor. I have heard and read alot of complaints about this. Answerarmy please come up with a solution to this!! i have a sears technician coming to my home in two days to check it out. but doubtful it will get fixed. Wonder how product replacement works to get the new 2011 model cuz they sold me an early 2010 model in mid 2011????

I too have a similar problem. My lawnmower was running fine. All of a sudden it will crank fine but it will not take gear. Also the thing on the rear that engages or disengages the transmission is not working at all. It will freely roll around in both positions. Any ideas as to what my problem might be?
