    Question:
I just purchased a Husqvarna Smart Start 27cc Curved Shaft 1.1 HP Lightweight String Trimmer 129C on eBay. It was listed as new. When I received it the box said refub and there's a "R" branded on the bottom of the engine casing. The seller posted that the box will be labeled refurb but will be new. I am really questioning this, especially with the "R" branded on the bottom. Also, I popped open the gas tank lid and it smelled like it had some gas in it at some point; are these tested individually from the factory, or is this a red flag? Does anyone know for sure if this is or not?

It is a unit that has been return to factory for one reason or another and has repaired to new like condition. The factory service department brands in the "R" so it is not confused with brand new never use or started unit.

Many of these are simply returned because the operator could get them run right and the store that they purchase it at has a no questions ask return policy. Then store simply return them to factory for credit. Many times it is just a simple carburetor out of tune problem.

Now I have seen a handful of the Refurbish units which was chainsaws come through my repair shop after several years of use. The owners were very happy with them.

As for the listing it should have been labeled "Factory Refurbish" as to that is what it is. As for the price that fair especially with free shipping.
