    Question:
    I need a replacement chain, and can only guess at what is the proper one. My saw is a 372xp. My bar has "RSN B 24/60 050/1 3" stamped on it. Am I right to assume that the "24" is the length of the bar? Is the "050/1" the guage of the bar to use when looking for a new chain? Also stamped on the bar is "3/8 84DL 92640 SQ". Am I right in guessing that the "3/8" is the pitch, and the "84DL" is the number of drive links? So if I search on Amazon and get part number "H4684" (a 24-inch chain with .050 guage and 84 drive links that has 372xp on the package) I should be good (and safe) to go? Thanks for any input y'all can provide!

      You have guessed correctly it appears.

      your chain:

      3/8" pitch = .375

      .050 gauge = 1.3mm

      84dl = 84 drive links

      24" bar

      any chain meeting these 4 criteria should function on your saw.

      Now, on to the issue of type of cutters and configuration.

      I am assuming that you are not very familiar with the whole woodsman gig, so I imagine that you do not re-sharpen chain.

      if that is true, then buy a full compliment square ground full chisel chain. it is very fast and aggressive thru all clean wood, but relatively safe from kickback.

      the next choice best for you would likely be a full skip square ground full chisel type chain. very aggressive very fast thru all clean wood, but kickback can be more severe and dangerous to the hapless unaware.

      square ground full chisel stays sharper longer than round ground semi chisel but requires a very high level of expertise in sharpening with a 3 corner chisel chain file.

      the chain that you seek is available direct on the Husqvarna professional chainsaw website. it is available from madsens shop & supply website.

      it is on the baileysonline website. using amazon for this purchase may save a few greenbacks, if you obtain exactly what you are trying to purchase.

      just triple check the chain using these #'s. you should be fine.

      if you do a lot of cutting, train yourself to sharpen round ground like a professional & also square ground if you dare.  if you have a whole bunch of spare time to learn the art.  and believe me, square ground re-sharpening requires extreme attention to detail and trained knowledge whether its self taught or tutored.
