    Question:
    I have a Husqvarna 350 chainsaw.
I would like to sharpen the chain myself and from searching on the internet and Husqvarna's web site, I'm not sure which sharpening kit I need to get.

This is the information from the Oregon box that the chain came in: 95VP072G. Now below this number there are pictures of what looks like different parts of the chain, and there are numbers listed right under the pictures.
Here are the numbers starting from the left side of the label: 95VP, then 72, then 325", then .050"/1.3mm.

On the chain itself, the part that rides along down in the bar groove, every other link (or triangle piece) is the number 95.

From the information I've posted above, could someone tell me which sharpener file kit (1st link below) and/or chainsaw file guide (2nd link below) will work with this chain for sharpening it?

I have posted the 2 different web sites below that have items listed but I don't know which part number is correct for the chain that I have.

From this web site: /images/us/accessories/chainsaw-accessories/file-kits/, there are 4 different part numbers listed.

From this web site: /images/us/accessories/chainsaw-accessories/combination-file-guide/, there are 3 different part numbers listed.

I think I can safely say that my chain has the .325 pitch but if you'll notice, there are two .325 pitch chains listed on each web site. One with "pixel" and one without "pixel".

Could someone please clarify which part number from each web site I would need that would be the correct kit for the chain I have?

It looks like the web site with the Chainsaw Sharpener File Kits, MSRP $17.95 (1st link posted above), has the Chainsaw File Guide that is in the other link that is priced at $12.95.
Is this correct also? Is that chainsaw file guide for $12.95 included in the chainsaw sharpener file kit $17.95?

I sure could use some help figuring out which part number I need.

Thanks for any help regarding my questions,
    Steve in Central Vermont

      Steve,

The Husqvarna Kit # for a Model 350 with a .325 pitch is Husqvarna part# 531 300 082, which consists of a flat file, a 3/16" round file, a file gauge, and a file handle. Most big box stores have them for aproximately $14.98.

I also like the Oregon sharpening kit which has a 3/16" round file, a file frame for holding the round file and also gives you the correct cutting angles on the frame, a flat file,, a handle and a gauge which is for filing the depth of the the rakers.

Several great tutorials are available at Oregonchain.com which will answer some of your other questions about different chains such as pixel, etc. and also a lot of terminology which takes the mystery out of chains, chain numbering, etc. etc.

      I hope this helps

Karla, I apologize for my last post.

As I have since done more research, I have found that the part number you gave does indeed give me the parts that I need/asked for.

Thanks for the advice, the help, and hopefully.....you'll accept my apology!

        Sincerely,

        Steve in Central Vermont

This is the information from the Oregon box that the chain came in: 95VP072G. Now below this number there are pictures of what looks like different parts of the chain, and there are numbers listed right under the pictures.
Here are the numbers starting from the left side of the label: 95VP, then 72, then 325", then .050"/1.3mm.

just adding a description the differences between pixel and regular chains and bars.

The numbers mean 95Vp Style, The  72 is the number of drive links, .325 is the pitch and .050 is the gauge of the drive links.

I think I can safely say that my chain has the .325 pitch but if you'll notice, there are two .325 pitch chains listed on each web site. One with "pixel" and one without "pixel".

The difference between Pixel and non pixel is that the pixel is Husqvarna designation for a narrow kerf chain. Bars that are for narrow kerf (pixel) chains can be use regular .325 chains but bars design for regular chain can not be used with the pixel chain due the thickness of bar.

So from the two answers above, no one has commented on which sharpener would work for my chain that I listed in my original post.

There's only 2 different links that I posted that had either: Chainsaw Sharpener File Kit or Combination Chainsaw File Guide.

All I'm looking for is which part number in those two links that i provided in my original post, would be the correct "sharpener" for the chain that I have on my saw.

I posted the numbers that came from the Oregon chain box thinking it would help whomever is experienced enough to know, from those numbers, which part number from both of those links, would work for me to sharpen my chain.

I don't want to know what every different number means, I'm not interested in what "pixel" means for what I'm looking for. knowing what Pixel means isn't going to help me in determining which of those two sharpener styles I'm gonna need.

I'm not interested in the Husqvarna part # 531 300 082. That's not the type of sharpener I'm looking for.

Maybe I'll call Husqvarna and see if they can help me.

        Thanks for the replies though.
