    Question:
I have a L 223 three years old in a storage building at our hunting property. I have used 30 times. Recently would not start, took to Husq qualified technition, who stated ethanal gas and lack of use, or as he put it neglect, wasn't worth fixing. Should buy a new one. REALLY? I am to buy a $200 plus trimmer because I don't use it enough. Can I get some help here?

After 3 yrs it is probably needing the Zama carburetor cleaned and rebuilt along with the replacement of the fuel line components. Parts list indicates it is a C1Q-EL24 which uses the RB-69 kit.

      John,

I totally agree with Eugene, that you will need the carburetor cleaned and a rebuild kit for the rubber diaphrams and gaskets inside the carburetor.

Also, a couple of suggestions after you have it running again, use some "Stabil" gas stabilizer in your fuel, follow the directions on the container, and for longer storage of your trimmer in the future, make sure you completely empty the fuel out of the tank before putting it away for the winter. After its empty make sure you try starting it also to use up any fuel in the fuel lines, carburetor, and primer bulb, then put it away empty and dry. The following spring or summer mix up a fresh mix of fuel and oil per the recommendations, and refill it and your ready to go for the season.

      I hope this helps.
