    Question:
I have a husqvarne 440 chainswaw. I had to replace the clutch assembly which was fairly easy. what is not easy is now that i have replaced the clutch i can not get the chain brake to release. so once i put the bar and chain and the cover on the chain will not move. is there a fix for this or did i mess something up somewhere?

You probably tripped or did not set the chain brake before removing the chain brake assembly. Resetting the chain brake should fix it though can be difficult without a reset tool. Sometimes you can put the cover on with one nut loosely on and pressing at the handle connection reset the the brake.

This reset is not available through Husqvarna which is why I made my own version as I need reset several of the these unit every year where customer removes the cover without setting the chain brake.

      Aaron,

Here is answer army link to a previously posted question:

Also, you may find it easier to place the chainsaw on its side when you do this, that way the clutch cover can be placed flat down on top of the bar bolts. Do not worry about the back end of the clutch cover, just focus on holding the front part of the clutch cover, and holding it snug against the brake handle engagement. With it held in place operate the brake handle and this should reset your brake band.

Remember, whenever  removing the clutch cover to "always" make sure the brake is disengaged or in the reset position.

      I hope this helps
