    Question:
Mower Bag Gets Debris Between Fabric Layers
    Details:

I have a brand new Husquavarna AWD 22" Self-Propelled with the Honda 190 engine.  While using it for the first time last weekend I noticed that the bag was collecting debris (dirt, dust, minute sized clippings, etc.) between the two layers of fabric on the left side of the bag.  I'm not sure why there are two layers of fabric here but this area is completely 'sealed' and the debris cannot be dumped out.  I've tried shaking it out and even using a shop vac but it is a futile effort.  The entire left side of the bag is completely stuffed like a pillow about 3 to 4" thick.  I've had clippings laying around before and I know it's probably a matter of time before they begin to rot.  I'm pretty disappointed by this.  Is there anything I can do short of cutting a hole in the side of the bag?

I'll try to post a picture of this later.

    Thanks,

    Tanner

I also have a new Husqvarna 22 inch AWD mower. The double layer bag is suppose to be better for air flow but it is a debris catcher. You are correct that it needs an opening to remove the trapped grass and leaves. A zipper would have been nice to clean out the between layer debris. I tried shaking the bag catcher strongly but it did not help much. If the inner layer has bigger air holes then the outer layer an air compressor may help. Blowing air from outside to inside may force some of the material back into the bag opening. I will be trying this suggestion the next time I use my own AWD. The best solution is to make some bag clean out flaps. Using a zipper will cost too much to manufacture so maybe some velcro clean out bagger doors would work. Once again we need the engineers to get busy fixing a design problem. I will come back and write a post if the compressed air helps.

I looked more closely at this last night.  It appears that only the left side of the bag actually has the double layer of fabric which as we know works excellent for trapping debris.  The fabric is the same for both layers so I don't think you'll have much success with an air compressor.  For $500 I would think that I could get a bag that doesn't clog up with debris!

Is there any customer support for Husquavarna mowers?  I can't find a phone number anywhere.  I purchased my mower from Lowes and the guy there didn't seem to know his stuff at all.  All I would expect from them would be to let me return the mower.  All I get from the Husquavarna website is a referral to this forum or a couple of local dealers.  I'll have to call the dealers next but I can't imagine they'll be real excited to give advice on a mower I didn't buy from them.

The attached photo shows the bag lying flat on the floor and you can see just how full it is stuffed.  I'd have to shake that thing for a half hour to get all the debris out of there!

Their service number is 800-487-5951.  Be ready for a long menu and a long wait. You will need your model, and serial number.

My Husq mower bag is doing the same thing.I'm trying to SOAK it but I may end up cutting open the pouch holding all the sand and debris
