    Question:
I've recently purchased a 224L trimmer. Can synthetic oil be used when I change the oil in this 4 cycle motor?

    Thanks,

    Sam

Thank you for contacting the AnswerARMY.

The short answer is YES as long as you do not exceed the API rating of SL. It is not recommended to use oils above the rating of SL.

The question of synthetic oil comes up on products frequently and typically we direct you back to the respective engine manufacturer for their recommendations. Although synthetic oil is not recommended there is no reason not to use it. Make sure you follow the oil change intervals just like you would with standard motor oils.
